Individual Counseling
So, you find yourself jumping to all kinds of conclusions
The loneliness, sadness, and constant thinking about how to change things can get exhausting. But where do you go? You’re not sure. What do you need? If you knew that, you wouldn’t be in this situation. What must you do for things to change?
Truly, it’s anyone’s guess.
If these streams of consciousness sound familiar, it’s time to consider counseling
When we are dealing with our day to day problems, we look for solutions for the issues that are right in front of our noses. Perhaps you were disappointed or hurt many times. Because of this, you developed a series of bad beliefs about yourself. One could be that you don’t deserve love. Or, that you’re not good enough. Often times, you “accept” that you must try harder than everyone else, etc. In addition, we all have a part of ourselves that longs to be loved, cared for, and valued.
As a child, this is supposed to come from your parents/caregivers. But we don’t grow up in perfect circumstances. As you grow older, you look to partners, co-workers or career to fulfil this need and feel the warmth of connection. Over time this leads to disappointments and feelings of hopelessness. And this is exhausting to live with.

Counseling Can Help
Throughout our experiences as counselors and as, well, people, we know that we all handled things that happen to us differently. We also know that we all have different reactions and adaptions. While everyone pursues counseling for different reasons, here are a few common reasons:
- Noticing a pattern of failed relationships
- Struggling setting boundaries
- Having difficulty communicating needs
- Questioning your worth
- Not feeling valued in your relationships
These are only a few of the many reasons to pursue counseling. To learn more, explore this article that outlines other reasons why people start counseling.
Our Approach to Individual Counseling in Dallas, TX and beyond
In order to make a long-lasting change, it is important to get at the root of the problem.
We all have a part of ourselves that longs to be loved, cared for, and valued. As a child, this is supposed to come from your parents/caregivers. But we don’t grow up in perfect circumstances.
In therapy, we will look closely at these needs. What they are, how you try to get them and how your feelings about them manifest in your life and relationships. Counseling is a collaborative process. Our therapists provide the guidance as to how your mind works, and the questions to uncover your feelings and desires, and you provide your hopes, desires and image of what you want your life to look like.
Therapy isn’t a miracle cure
But, for the distress that many people experience – feeling unfulfilled, hopeless, lost, confused, insecure (or a variety of other things), therapy offers the possibility of lifting the clouds and making space for a more fulfilling life.
Throughout the years our therapists have helped many people who were dealing with what you’re going through right now. We’ve had clients that come to us feeling lost and out of place. Through our work together in counseling, they discover their path and joy. What’s more, our clients leave our sessions feeling confident in their abilities to communicate their needs to others, set boundaries, and lean into their role in their relationships. We’ve helped many people, and we can help you, too.
